EVANGELISTICS: Church Growth

On the one hand, every believer must be equipped to engage in faith-inspired conversations across a variety of contexts. On the other hand, it is equally important to understand and consider the person being engaged. Students will explore the dynamics of contemporary society in order to better understand the hopes, fears, and underlying assumptions of modern people. The course also addresses the challenge of how the Reformed faith meets these needs.

A congregation must embody key biblical characteristics to effectively welcome and nurture new believers. The greater challenge, however, lies in how a congregation can cultivate these qualities in order to fulfil its calling as an evangelising church. Every member has a vital part to play in this.

This course is designed to equip students with practical tools for applying the biblical principles of Christ’s command. It also aims to clearly define the role of the congregation in evangelism and provide guidelines for achieving this goal.

Who will benefit from this?

This course is ideal for ministering ministers, theological students, elders, deacons, youth workers, and for those involved in ministry. It equips students with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively and faithfully teach the Gospel to people across a variety of age groups and situations.

But arguably it is even more appropriate for each member who needs to understand his or her role in spreading the Gospel, in particular, how to receive converts into the congregation. Evangelism should be a feature of the whole congregation!

You will learn:

have a meaningful conversation with strays or unbelievers in various contexts
understand the characteristics and dynamics of a growing and evangelizing congregation
fulfil your own role as a fisherman of people and making the congregation a “fishing net” for newly converts.
