HERMENEUTICS: How Should You Interpret the Bible?

All Christian believers engage with the Bible, yet we derive different truths from it. This is because we read Scripture through various interpretive “lenses.” The central question this course seeks to answer is: How should the church of God faithfully interpret the Bible in a world that differs radically from the times in which the Bible originated?

This course offers an in-depth study of the principles underlying Reformed hermeneutics, as derived from Scripture and used in the formulation of the Reformed Confessions.

It equips students with the tools necessary to interpret the Biblical text with credibility, accuracy, and theological responsibility. Special emphasis is placed on the unity and coherence of Scripture, the Christocentric nature of salvation, and the Covenant through which God maintains His relationship with His church.

Who will benefit from this?

Whether you are a theological student, involved in Bible studies, a Bible teacher or educator, a reigning elder, or a serious student of the Bible, this course will give you a foundational understanding of the reliable interpretation of biblical texts. Every sermon you listen to will have a deeper meaning for you after this.

You will learn:

  • understand the fundamentals by which the Bible should be read and explained.
  • responsibly apply the Bible to ethical and moral issues of our time.
  • better understand the Bible and see the Will of God more clearly.
