by Ammi Postma
I had the privilege of following all the short courses offered by the RTA in 2025.
What stands out is the synergy between the different modules. What you master earlier in one course
becomes useful prior knowledge in the next. Each course is valuable on its own, but together they have greater worth than the sum of their parts.
The sense of community that develops and the friendships forged through conversations with fellow students outside class time are very enriching for anyone who desires a deeper understanding of the Bible and the gospel.
The platform is easy to navigate, and access to resources is simple.
The standard of the presentations and the quality of the teaching are fantastic. It is definitely value for money.
Attentive Reading
This is a fantastic course for anyone interested in exposure to good theological resources. There is something for every area of interest, and the exposure to different materials and thinkers outside your usual circle is excellent for faith growth and a deeper understanding of the richness of Reformed theology.
Christ and Worldviews
If you need tools to talk to people outside your own culture about the gospel, or simply want to understand others better—and even yourself—this course is very useful. The outlines of different worldviews are presented in such a way that you can better understand others in your conversations.
Introduction to the New Testament
An overview of the NT with plenty of depth. You will receive excellent presentations on each book of the NT and explore the doctrine of salvation in depth. The lessons on Revelation are helpful for every Christian.
Life and Service before the Face of God
Whether you came to faith last week or have stood in a pulpit every Sunday for 30 years, you will gain value from this course. Your life of gratitude, Coram Deo, is examined. This course is the heartbeat of the RTS.
You will learn to pray better in public—whether for a reading service or when asked to pray at a gathering. Your personal prayers will gain the colour and depth you experience in the Psalms. This is the best money you will ever spend on a course. If you have time and money for only one course: This is it!
Old Testament
77% of the words in the Bible are in the Old Testament. There is a reason it has been preserved through the millennia. There is no reason you cannot draw value from it. The Old Testament gives colour to your reading of the New Testament. Follow the covenant through to Christ.
The History and Theology of the Church in Africa
Trace how the gospel took root in Africa in the first century and the different phases through which it developed up to the second millennium. There were struggles for pure doctrine, and great theologians who still influence our thinking today came from Africa. Experience the journey of discovery yourself.
The Order of Christ in His Church
The principles by which the church of Christ is still governed today have their roots in the church order of the Palatinate. Enjoy high-quality lessons that unpack the document and gain exposure to insightful artworks that illuminate the spirit of the age. You will gain renewed appreciation for good order in the church.
The Three Catholic Creeds of the Church
Next time someone asks you: “What do you believe?” you won’t have to think long. Discover where each statement in these documents comes from and why they can provide direction today in a post-modern world that feels like a bottomless ocean.
The Three Forms of Unity
In this course, your only comfort is just the beginning. You will handle each of the confessional writings in such a way that you personally learn to appreciate their unity and diversity. Now you can explain them clearly to others and offer them comfort.
Write Meticulously
This course takes the pain out of church minutes. It focuses on ethical and high-quality church documents. Whether you are the scribe or simply want to benefit from Acts of Synods or even create a modern congregational newsletter that is competitive, this is the course for you.
Ammi thank you for your time and thoughtfull feedback we appreciate it and it will help countless others make better decisions.
